Morus has raised 50 million yen through a third-party allocation of new shares in a seed round. The funds raised will be used to invest in product development, research and development of silkworm breeding, and strengthening of recruitment and organizational structure in the fields of food, medicine, feed, cosmetics, and others.
In addition, Professor Kunihiro Shiomi of the Faculty of Textile Science and Technology, Shinshu University, who is a co-founder of the company, has been appointed as an outside director of the company and will accelerate research and development and commercialization of the technology.
